NFPB will have its final meeting of 2013, our centenary year, at Kendal Meeting House this coming Saturday, 30th November.
In the morning, we will be joined by Stuart Parkinson of Scientists for Global Responsibility, SGR , speaking on the theme of “Moving from militarism to sustainable security: the role of science and technology’.
We shall also have a presentation from Westmorland General Meeting’s ‘Preparing for Peace’, who are working on new web resources to support Friends and others in marking the centenary of the first world war with information about those who sought a non military route during that period.
Friends wishing to join us for our meeting in Kendal would be very welcome. Our meeting starts at 10.45, with our main speaker from 11.30, lunch break between 1.00 and 2.00 and finishing at 4.15. The NFPB centenary display will be on show, accompanied by NFPB resources . Contact us for more information. (details on our home page http://nfpb.org.uk/)
Our centenary has marked the conclusion of a significant period of Quaker peace witness. This year is also a culmination of a four-year development plan , which mapped out priorities for our work. A new framework for the next few years will be considered at our Kendal Meeting. ‘Peace in all its height and breadth’ has been our remit from the first conference in 1913 and continues to challenge us today.
